Liverpool’s Slovakian defender Martin Skrtel is a major transfer target for Turkish giants Galatasaray. Skrtel who only has two years left to run on his current contract at Anfield has been assured he will be given a minumum salary of £100,000 a week if he were to join Galatasaray.
Skrtel proved his worth to Liverpool last season with a number of solid defencive performances and 7 goals to his name, however the defender also scored 4 own goals. There is set to been a tug-of-war between the two clubs over the transfer fee as Liverpool won’t want to sell Skrtel for cheap if they wish to sell the defender at all.
The defender is happy at Anfield but will the temptation of being able to feature in the same team as names such as Didier Drogba and Wesley Sneijder who are already plying their trade at the Turk Telekom Arena.
If Skrtel is to depart he will joined by Spanish striker Iago Aspas who looks set to join Sevilla for about half of the £7.2 million Liverpool paid Celta Vigo for the forward last summer.
