UEFA and European Club Association have rejected all possibilities of staging the European Super League.

Recent reports suggested a number of big European clubs with the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Real Madrid and Barcelona intended to kick start a new competition named European Super League.

The officials of the club met at a secret place to discuss the formation of this new tournament which could set the path for a new competition replacing the Champions League in a few years time.

Although the idea is believed to be in the initial phase the long term effect of this proposed completion could affect the football economy. In a meeting held in Brussels UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin and ECA chief Andrea Agnelli echoed one another indicating there is no place for the European Super League.

Agnelli said, “What is ruled out, and must be ruled out, is a Super League.

“This is extremely important to me as far as the ECA is concerned and Juventus is concerned, because I also represent Juventus.

“In 2018, there have been no talks about a Super League. When the leaks came out a couple of weeks ago president Ceferin and I had a chat about it because evidently there were some documents claiming there were talks about a Super League in 2018.

“My answer was a straightforward ‘No, I know nothing about it’. This is what helps build institutions – that mutual trust.”
