David Moyes has failed in an audacious bid to swap Nani for Tottenham’s Andros Townsend.
Manchester United are understood to have discussed the move with Spurs earlier this week but the north Londoners, after initially entering into discussions, rejected the deal.
It now remains to be seen whether Moyes returns ahead of tonight’s transfer deadline.
Moyes hinted earlier today that as far as incomings were concerned United were closed for business, but if Townsend became available that may change.
Townsend burst on to the international scene this season and is central to Tottenham’s plans.
But with Nani apparently surplus to requirements, and a target for the North Londoners, a swap deal was mooted.
