Louis Van Gaal is ready to bring the Bundesliga star to England.

Manchester United are ready to open talks with Van Gaal’s former employers over the transfer of Thomas Muller.

A striker is thought to be high on Van Gaal‘s list of priorities this summer with the ageing and declining Robin Van Persie understood to be on his way out, and on loan flop Radamel Falcao unlikely to be at Old Trafford next season, the Dutchman is left with very few options.

Previous Relationship

Van Gaal gave Muller his first run of games in the first team during his stint as manager of Bayern Munich in the 2009-10 season. The forward has since gone on to score 121 goals in 303 appearances for the club.

Muller is however, a huge hit with the fans at Munich, often seen taking part in and leading them in chants at the Allianz Arena. Having been at the club since he was eleven, United may find it difficult to prise the World Cup winner away from the Bavarian giants.

But with the rumoured fall out between Muller and Munich manager Pep Guardiola after the striker was withdrawn against Barcelona, United may see this as a prime opportunity to move for the forward.

Guardiola to make Changes

Guardiola is hoping to use this summer as one in which he can mould his squad to fit his own ideals that were frequently on show at Barcelona. This may mean that more physical players such as Muller could face the chop.

With the presence of Robert Lewandowski up front for Bayern, Muller may see a move to Manchester United as an opportunity to be the main man once again.

At only 25-years-old, Muller is arguably entering the peak of his game, and as a result would be an outstanding bit of business for Manchester United, and surely well worth the £40 Million they may have to part with.
