Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has said that United are unlikely to sign players in January. He also admitted that if any long term targets became available then they would consider trying to sign them but they are not looking at “short-term fixes”.

The Red devils are currently seventh in the Premier league after spending ÂŁ150m on summer signings.

“We are not looking to enter the market for short-term fixes,” said Woodward. “However we have targets we are looking at for next summer.”

“Should any of them become available in January, which is obviously rare, we will consider acting. But it is a low probability.”

United have also posted a 9.9% fall in revenue for the three months to the end of September which is due to “absence from the Champions League”.
