Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal had admitted that the club need a winger of ‘Di Maria’s class’.
With United insisting that they can spend big this summer, Van Gaal has dropped the biggest hint yet that he is about to make a move for the Argentine Winger.
Di Maria has been linked with the Red Devils for the whole of the summer, and with PSG admitting that they will not move for the player. it seems that United are now in pole position to sign the winger.
When asked about Woodward’s comments on United’s spending this summer, the Dutch boss said:
“It is a strategy of Manchester United to do that. At this moment, we have five No.9s and four No.10s – and we don’t have wingers to give us attacking width.
“Or, I should say, we don’t have wingers of the highest level, like Ronaldo or Di Maria or somebody like that. So, I have to play in another way – and you have seen that already. I only buy when I think we need to buy – in the position that is necessary.”
