Manchester United will not persue the signature of Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal.

It is understood that Juventus are ready and willing to let their star man go, as the Italian side were hoping to agree a ÂŁ32m deal with United.

However, new United boss Louis Van Gaal has decided that Vidal is not the man for them, with the manager said to be outraged at Vidal’s price tag.

Vidal’s agent Fernando Felicevich was in London finalising Sanchez’s move to Arsenal and was set to hold talks with the Old Trafford club over a proposed transfer.

Vidal is currently on holiday after competing at the World Cup in Brazil for his country, and when quizzed by Chilean newspaper La Tercera over whether he would be joining United, he said: ‘I’ve heard about the rumours, but I haven’t spoken more about this subject.’

‘I’m enjoying my holidays, and when I return to Italy I’ll see what happens. Anyone would like to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world.’

Even Italian papers had claimed that a deal had been formally agreed between the two clubs, but this now appears to be false rumours.

United’s valuation of the Chilean hitman is said to be ÂŁ7m less than that of Juventus and Van Gaal has made it clear he will not pay over the odds to sign the 27-year-old, despite the manager identifying the midfielder as one of his top targets.
