Wayne Rooney talks can wait, says Moyes

Manchester United manager David Moyes has admitted that talks with striker Wayne Rooney have been put on hold whilst the club focus on getting back into the Premier League title-race.

A tough start has left Moyes’ men already nine points behind league leaders Arsenal and their main focus at the moment is on putting things right on the pitch, rather than sorting things out off it.

However, it is worrying for the United officials that star-man Wayne Rooney only has 18-months left on his contract, especially after he had a Summer of saying he wanted to leave and was even targeted by rivals Chelsea.

Rooney has been United’s key performer so far this season and the club will be desperate to have him sign a long-term contract, but Moyes has admitted that that is not the main issue at the club right now.

“When will we talk to him about the contract? I don’t really know.

“I think we are fine. We are just moving on from the summer. It will be done in good course.

“The appropriate people will talk when the time is right.”
