Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger believes that he does not need to sign a new striker this summer.

The Gunners, like Liverpool and Manchester United, have been linked with PSG striker Edinson Cavani, with reports suggesting that the club were readying a bid for the forward. The reports were claiming that Wenger was ready to launch a ÂŁ51million bid should PSG sign Angel di Maria from Real Madrid.

Cavani is thought to be eager to leave Paris, and his agent Claudio Anellucci has revealed that Liverpool and Manchester United are both ‘very interested’ in the Uruguyan,

He said: “There has been much intersest in the player during the last six months.

“I can confirm that Cavani heard proposals from Liverpool and Arsenal.

“Already said he would love to play in England, but has not yet made a final decision.”

But it seems that Wenger has now ruled out a move for Cavani,

He said: “Up-front we have plenty of candidates.

“Joel Campbell has joined us plus the new signings.

“Walcott is coming back at the end of the month so if you look at the number of players we have up-front we have unbelievable strength.”

The news of Wenger’s plans not sign Cavani will disappoint many Gunners fans.

The Arsenal faithful have been crying out for the Frenchman to sign a world-class striker this summer in order to take the some of the workload off Olivier Giroud, who played a staggering 51 games last season.
