The Gunners boss says he has no plans to leave the Emirates Stadium at the end of the season

Arsene Wenger has claimed he will not be leaving Arsenal this summer, despite some fans calling for him to go.

The Gunners boss still has a year left on his current deal – it expires in Summer 2017 – and he announced that he has no plans to leave any sooner than that.

Many have called for the longtime boss to leave Arsenal due to the club’s failure in the title race yet again. Some fans have had enough and believe that come the end of the campaign, the Frenchman should leave. However, Wenger clearly doesn’t agree.

When asked about whether he would leave before the end of his contract, he said: “I do not want to come back on that, I respect always my contract.”

He was then questioned about potentially leaving this summer and he replied: “Look, I’ve just answered your question.”

Could end up without Champions League football

Arsenal are currently sat in fourth place in the Premier League table. However, they are just four points in front of fifth-placed Man United and if they continue to drop points – as they did against Crystal Palace, when they only managed a draw – then the Red Devils could end up overtaking them.

It would mean that the Gunners could be without a place in the Champions League and they are also likely to finish below league rivals Tottenham, who are sitting comfortably in second and still have a chance to win the league.

It does though look like Wenger could be manager of the club for the foreseeable future.
