Speaking to the club’s official website, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has dealt a huge blow to the club’s fans by admitting that they are not even close to signing anybody this month.

The Gunners have been strongly linked with a move for Schalke midfielder Julian Draxler, and according to reports, representitives of Arsenal were in Germany discussing a potential deal, but according to Wenger, nothing is close to being completed for anybody.

There have also been reports linking the club with a loan move for Juventus striker Mirko Vucinic, but once again Wenger has ruled out that move being close as well.

“Are we active? Yes,” he said. “Are we close to sign anybody? No.

“There’s not long now that’s true. First, the situation was going like always in a transfer market – week by week. In the last two weeks it goes day by day, now it goes hour by hour.

“In any hour anything can happen or change but at the moment, unfortunately, we are not signing anybody.”

However, if you are an Arsenal fan, you will remember that Wenger said they were not close to signing anyone in the Summer and they captured Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid, and a couple of seasons before that they signed Everton’s Mikel Arteta.
