The Baggies had been considering a bid for the Reds defender

West Brom are no longer interested in signing Mamadou Sakho, according to reports today.

The Baggies had been contemplating a bid for the defender in January and had even gone so far as to watch him play for Liverpool’s Under-23 side to see if they should sign him.

Despite continually being linked with a bid, the reports today are claiming that any potential deal is off and that West Brom no longer have an interest in bringing Sakho to the club.

The Frenchman is not currently in any of Liverpool’s plans and there are no signs that he will be called back to the first-team at Anfield any time soon.

Last featured in April

He is surplus to requirements after being sent home early from the club’s pre-season tour, so much so that he has been training with the Reds’ Under-23 side since then.

In fact, the last time he featured for Liverpool was all the way back in April and he is yet to get even a minute of action for Jurgen Klopp’s side this campaign.

Liverpool are wanting to get rid of him, while the player himself would understandably like a move away and West Brom were seen as a potential way out for the 26-year old.

However, with the Baggies withdrawing their interest, it looks like the wait will go on for a new club for Sakho.
