West Ham United have emerged as shock front runners to sign Barcelona midfielder Alex Song.
The Hammers are in competition with Premier League rivals Arsenal, Tottenham, Liverpool and Manchester United for Song, 26, who has been deemed surplus to requirements at the Catalan giants.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is looking at Song as a potential replacement for Lucas Leiva, who is set to move to Napoli.
Old Trafford boss Louis van Gaal looks to have missed out on Arturo Vidal, so has turned his attentions to Song.
However, Song is believed to be in deep discussions with the Upton Park club, with manager Sam Allardyce keen to add some midfield muscle.
