West Ham United Eyeing Chelsea Defender Gary Cahill In January

West Ham United are reportedly planning to raid Chelsea in January in a bid to rope in defender Gary Cahill.

The 32 year old has mostly been a bench warmer this season following the arrival of Maurizio Sarri at the Stamford Bridge as he has rarely featured for the West London side this season. The defender has been limited to just 21 minutes of game time in the Premier League and his other two appearances came in the Europa League and the League Cup.

Cahill is yet to decide his future but an offer from their London rivals would be too lucrative to turn down. The Hammers have managed to get their season back on track with wins against Everton and Manchester United and a draw against Chelsea.

But just when things started to shape up nicely Brighton & Hove Albion unsettled things with a slender 1-0 win over them just before the international break. Despite investing pretty rapidly in the summer Manuel Pellegrini would love to have some assurance in the backline and a player like Cahill is certainly capable of that.

Cahill’s contract is due to expire at the end of this year and the Hammers may get their hand on the player for a fairly cut price deal.
