Who will Ireland play in the World Cup play-offs? When is the draw for the World Cup 2018 play-offs? World Cup 2018?Â
The draw for the World Cup play-offs takes place on Tuesday, 17 October at 14:00 CET.
Ireland secured their place in the play-offs with a 1-0 win away at Wales last week. They are looking to qualify for their first World Cup since 2002.
Back in 2009, they lost out at the same stage to France who progressed to the final tournament following a controversial goal from William Gallas, who scored a decisive extra time winner following an assist from Thierry Henry who had clearly controlled the ball with his hand.
However, Ireland did qualify for the European Championships in 2012 and 2016, making it to the knock-out stages of the latter.
Joining them in the draw are Northern Ireland, although both are second seeds so cannot play each other. Their potential rivals are Switzerland, Italy, Croatia and Denmark.
