Louis van gaal has fired a sensational parting shot at young striker Danny Welbeck, claiming that he wasn’t up to United’s standards.
Welbeck had been at the club since the age of nine but the United manager pulled no punches in his assessment of the homegrown forward, saying that he simply wasn’t good enough.
‘He [Welbeck] does not have the record of van Persie or Rooney,’ Van Gaal said at a press conference today.
‘That is the standard. That is why we let him go’.
Welbeck joined the Gunners for £16m on deadline day after United landed Radamel Falcao on loan.
