Chelsea and Brazil winger Willian has revealed who is the club’s best player during training. When asked about this, he said, “Everyone has been training well but I would say Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic have been very good. They both bring a lot of quality to the team.”
Jorginho joined Chelsea from Napoli this summer, reuniting with Maurizio Sarri. The 26-year old scored in Chelsea’s 3-0 win against Huddersfield Town. Mateo Kovacic also joined the club this summer on loan from Real Madrid. He did not start against Huddersfield but came on as a substitute against Arsenal. The Croat came on for Ross Barkley in the 60th minute.
One surprise from Willian’s comment is that he did not mention Eden Hazard. Hazard has frequently been touted as Chelsea’s top player. However, he hasn’t started any of Chelsea’s games. The Belgian came on as a second-half substitute in both matches and assisted Marcos Alonso’s winner against Arsenal. Maurizio Sarri has stated that Hazard will soon become a starter for Chelsea.
Chelsea are currently third in the table below Manchester City and Liverpool. They next take on Newcastle United at St. James’ Park on Sunday. The Magpies are yet to register a win in the Premier League. They lost to Tottenham Hotspur and drew against Cardiff City.
