Zaha stuck at United

Wilfried Zaha’s hopes of being sent on loan to another club in the January transfer window has been met with a big blow today as the winger is apparently not coping mentally with being at a big club.

Zaha has only appeared twice since signing for Manchester United under Sir Alex Ferguson. Ferguson paid ÂŁ15m to bring the youngster to the club from Crystal Palace last January. Since Moyes has took over though Zaha has struggled to make the team; so much so that he spent Sunday’s 2-2 draw at Cardiff sitting among journalists in the press box.

The 21-year-old has been linked with loan moves away from Old Trafford in the coming transfer window and Moyes would be happy to let him go in order to earn some much needed experience.

Sportsmail understands that Zaha’s mental toughness has been brought into doubt. Reports within United’s training ground suggest he just isn’t ready for life at the very top of the Premier League.

At least one Premier League manager who was considering a move for Zaha has been put off by suggestions that he is not contributing enough to United. It remains to be seen whether Zaha can change opinions between now and January.

There is no doubt that Zaha has potential and ability. The youngster has the capacity to past players and the confidence to take on defenders in wide areas.

The concern with Zaha is that he is struggling to understand his role as a wide player and shows no signs in training that he is learning and improving.

Zaha’s only appearances for United have in the Community Shield against Wigan back in August and the Capital One Cup victory over Norwich a month ago. He is yet to score since joining United.
