Zenit St Petersburg have warned potential suitors of Axel Witsel’s buyout clause

A number of clubs including Manchester United and Chelsea are reportedly interested in the Belgium international.

According to reports in Italy, the 26-year-old told his agent he wanted to leave Russia in order to sample football in Serie A.

And Juventus are another club believed to be monitoring his situation as Paul Pogba’s future remains uncertain with Chelsea rumoured to be keen on the France international.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is thought to be an admirer of the former Manchester United man and could be set to make a late bid.

So far, Barcelona are the only club to have made an offer, thought to be around 80 million euros, which Juventus rejected, according to Bianconeri managing director Giuseppe Marotta.

Chelsea close on Nantes defender

Papy Djilobodji looks set to join the Stamford Bridge club with the Senegal international currently completing a medical in London.

The 26-year-old is set to cost the Blues around £2.7million and will provide competition for the likes of Gary Cahill, John Terry and Kurt Zouma.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez may finally be able to relax after Chelsea’s pursuit of Toffees defender John Stones during the past few months.

The Merseyside club are adamant the England international is not for sale at any price, with Martinez adding the 21-year-old has a big future at Goodison Park.
