Arsene Wenger’s Summer wish-list

0

The Gunners ended their nine-year trophy drought at Wembley on Saturday after an extra-time victory over Hull.

But while Arsenal paraded their silverware through the streets of Islington yesterday, now attention turns to strengthening the squad.

And with Bacary Sagna and Lukasz Fabianski on their way out of the Emirates exit door, Wenger wants at least three new faces before the start of next season.

Wenger is set to sign his new contract this week and wants to kick on over the summer by landing new talent.

Express Sport understands a striker is a priority, with three names under consideration.

Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema is a long-term target, with a ÂŁ30million bid in the pipeline.

Bayern Munich hitman Mario Mandzukic is set to leave the German giants this summer and is wanted by Wenger, but Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is also keen.

Liverpool and Everton target Wilfried Bony could prove a cheaper option for Wenger though, should Swansea be pushed into a sale.

Benzema’s Real team-mate Angel Di Maria is a ÂŁ40m wing option, with the Argentine ace reportedly ready to quit the Bernabeu.

Wenger has lined up potential replacements for Sagna and Fabianski too, in Nancy goalkeeper Paul Nardi and Toulouse right-back Serge Aurier.

Manchester City to offer Bacary Sagna ÂŁ150k-a-week

0

Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna is set to leave the club this Summer, and according to reports, Premier League champions Manchester City, are willing to offer him ÂŁ150k-a-week to join them.

The Frenchman is out of contract at the end of this season, and after rejecting three extensions already from Arsenal, it appears that a move away is likely for one of the club’s longest serving players.

Earlier this month it was reported that Sagna felt disrespected by the club after the loyalty he should them through their nine-year trophy drought, which ended at the weekend, and he even hinted that a move away is likely.

However, after admitting that his decision is yet to be made, Arsene Wenger and the board are desperate to keep hold of the 31-year-old, but will not be willing to match what City will offer.

Arsenal have offered Sagna a two-year-deal worth around ÂŁ75k-a-week, whilst City are preparing to offer him double that at ÂŁ150k-a-week for three years.

Sagna would be the fourth player in recent times to leave Arsenal for City, following in; Gael Clichy’s, Samir Nasri’s and Emmanuel Adebayor’s footsteps.

Arsenal plan ÂŁ10m bid for James Milner

0

Arsenal are preparing to kick-start their Summer of spending by offering Manchester City ÂŁ10million for midfielder James Milner.

The Englishman is growing frustrated at the lack of first-team opportunities at the Etihad Stadium, and with plans to strengthen the squad ahead of next season, a transfer away could be the likely option for the former-Aston Villa man.

Despite breaking the Financial Fair Play rules and being fined already, City are still keen to add to their side this pre-season, and will try and balance their books by allowing players to leave.

However, it appears the three main players leaving are all English, as Milner could be joined by Joleon Lescott and Micah Richards, and this would affect their UK-based players registration.

Due to starting just 12 league games this year, Milner is desperate to leave the club and has reportedly already handed in a transfer request, with Arsenal, Liverpool, Everton and Tottenham all interested.

Arsene Wenger to be handed ÂŁ100million to spend

0

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will sign a new deal at the club and will also be given around ÂŁ100million to spend in the Summer on strengthening his squad.

The Gunners capped off their season by ending their nine-year trophy drought by picking up the FA Cup after a stunning 3-2 victory against Hull City, and with the trophy back at the Emirates Stadium, all focus is now on Wenger and his future.

However, he is adamant that he is staying and it’s believed that a new deal will be signed later this week which will see him stay at the club for at least three more years.

Not only will Wenger be signing a new contract, he will also be given a whopping transfer kitty which could see him spend up to ÂŁ100million.

It’s believed the Frenchman is keen on signing a right-back, a holding-midfielder and a striker, with Javi Martinez, Serge Aurier and Karim Benzema all linked with moves to North London.

Wenger is keen to replace veteran Mikel Arteta, and has highlighted Martinez from Bayern Munich, as well as Southampton’s Morgan Schneiderlin and Bayer Leverkusen’s Lars Bender.

At right-back it seems that Aurier from Toulouse is the favoured option, whilst Benzema from Real Madrid is the number-one striker target as well.

On-loan Chelsea star unsure on future

0

On-loan Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has admitted that his future is still undecided.

The Belgium shot-stopper has spent the last three seasons in Spain with Atletico Madrid after refusing to play second-fiddle to current Blues number-one Petr Cech, but if reports are to be believed, the ‘keeper could be ready to make a return to Stamford Bridge this Summer.

Courtois has made it clear that he will not return to England to be backup to Cech, and that has given Jose Mourinho a massive selection headache, and in a recent interview, Courtois has admitted that he still has no idea where he will be playing next year.

“I’m not sure yet. We’ll see what happens. First of all, we’ve still got an important game next week and then afterwards it’s the World Cup,” he said after helping Atleti hold Barcelona to a 1-1 draw to win the title.

“I don’ think it’s the proper time to think about the future. My contract is with Chelsea so we will see what happens.”

The 22-year-old has had a superb season with Madrid this year, as they secured the La Liga title at the weekend and could also win the Champions League if they beat Real Madrid next Saturday.

Ramsey targeted by Bayern Munich

0

Pep Guardiola will attempt to sign Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey in the summer.

Ramsey scored Arsenal’s winner in the FA Cup final, as the Gunners came from 2-0 down to beat Hull Ciy 3-2.

And the goal capped off a superb campaign, in which he scored 15 goals, despite being injured for around three months.

Ramsey’s superb form has now attracted Guardiola, who is set to table a ÂŁ25 million bid.

Barcelona have also watched the Welsh midfielder, and are too viewing him as a replacement for veteran midfielder Xavi.

However, Ramsey will somewhat feel a degree of loyalty to Arsenal.

Gerrard will quit England after the World Cup

0

Steven Gerrard is set to QUIT England after the World Cup this summer – no matter what the outcome is. The Liverpool midfielder is entering the tournament in Brazil as captain but he has recognised that to play on for two more years, having signed a new deal at Anfield until 2016, he would have to give up international football.

Sportsmail believes that not only Gerrard but Frank Lampard has come to this conclusion too and both of them will call time on their national team careers after this summer. Brendan Rodger’s said about the Liverpool skipper:

“I just think he’ll need to assess things after Brazil, as he’ll be 34 then. He’s been a brilliant captain for me, a great leader and a brilliant man. His condition is terrific. But next season, there will be a big demand. If he comes and asks that, I’ll give an opinion on it but I think it’s a decision he has to make.

“He has a very clear vision of the game and what he wants to do for Liverpool. He loves playing for England. He’ll go and concentrate on England and we’ll see what happens after that.”

Liverpool to swoop for Emre Can

0

According to German newspaper Bild, Liverpool have agreed a deal with Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Emre Can. The player has been linked with an Anfield move in recent weeks, following a great season for him in Germany.

Can is able to play in both left-back and attacking midfield, but his favoured position is as a defensive midfielder, a role which Liverpool are desperate to strengthen. However, the 20-year old’s arrival at the club could spell the end for Lucas Leiva, who has struggled to regain form after a number of injuries.

With a Can move possibly happening this early, it shows Liverpool are not going to take much of a break, as the club look to improve their squad after a season which saw them come so close yet so far in the race for the Premier League title. It also shows that Rodgers means business as he looks to take the side one step further next season and try to claim the trophy for the first time.

Manchester United join the hunt for Sagna

0

Imminent Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal wants his new club to go head-to-head with rivals Manchester City for Arsenal right back Bacary Sagna.

It is thought that Sagna will have talks with Premier League champions City on Friday night over a possible move this coming week, with a deal worth ÂŁ100,000 per week rumoured to be on the cards. However, next United boss Louis van Gaal has now identified Sagna as one of his main transfer targets as he wants him to compete with Rafael for United’s right back spot.

Stealing Sagna from under their rivals noses would be a wonderful way to announce himself to the fans at Old Trafford, but City remain favourites to land the Frenchman this summer, and barring any last minute hitches, Sagna’s intention is to sign for City, though United’s interest could possibly cause a rethink.

Chelsea admirers of Jones

0

Chelsea are reportedly ready to make a shock move for Manchester United defender, Phil Jones in the summer.

It is understood that boss, Jose Mourinho is chasing the defender and admirers how the player is able to adapt to various playing positions.

With David Luiz likely to be heading away from Stamford Bridge this summer, Mourinho sees Jones a perfect replacement and back-up for John Terry and Gary Cahill.

Jones has had a disappointing season under David Moyes, but has been selected for England’s World Cup squad.

The player is suited to a centre-back role, but when needed, can play either at right-back or defensive midfield, which is why Mourinho is watching the player closely.

Liverpool planning transfer bid for Bayern Munich winger

0

Brendan Rodgers is planning a transfer raid for Bayern Munich winger and Switzerland World Cup star Xherdan Shaqiri this summer.

The Swiss is amoung many players that has been linked with The Reds over the recent weeks, with Southampton duo Adam Lallana and Dejan Lovren emerging to be prime targets for Rodgers, but pace and strength out wide it something that Liverpool lacked last season as their title bid fell just short, causing Shaqiri to emerge as another potential target.

It is thought that Rodgers would need to pay around ÂŁ15million to purchase Shaqiri, who has struggled to get into the Bayern team since joining from Basel in 2012. Rodgers however will also be keen to strengthen a defence which leaked over 50 Premier League goals last season, which may mean a buying a defensive player could have priority.

Martino resigns from Barcelona

0

Barcelona manager Gerardo Martino has resigned from his post at Barcelona.

Martino’s side lost the Spanish La Liga title on Saturday, following a 1-1 draw against eventual winners Atletico Madrid, who pipped Barcelona by two points.

It is the first time for ten years that either Barcelona or Real Madrid have not won the Liga title.

Alexis Sanchez opened the scoring for the hosts with a superb drive into the bottom corner, before Diego Godin scored the goal that would win the League title for Madrid.

And the result triggered the resignation of Martino, who stated after the game.

“I want to tell you that I have agreed with the club that I will no longer be Barcelona manager,”Martino, known as Tata, said. “I would like to thank everyone for trusting in me.

“I am sorry that we did not achieve the objectives that this club had been achieving year after year. I would like to thank absolutely everyone. I want to thank the players. I would rather not talk about their qualities as footballers but as people; this club has great people here.”

Sanchez firmly on Liverpool’s radar

0

Liverpool will seemingly be very busy this summer, after already being linked with various players and it is now understood the club is chasing Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez.

ÂŁ18 million pounds seems to be enough to prize the player away from the Spanish club, eventhough Sanchez cost Barcelona ÂŁ25 million when he moved from Udinese.

It is thought that no deal will be struck until after the World Cup where Sanchez will represent Chile.

Sanchez has had a solid season, adapting to various positions when the team has needed him to. He has scored 19 goals in 35 appearances for the club, with 10 assists.

Liverpool attempt to lure Bony

0

Liverpool boss, Brendan Rodgers has identified Swansea City striker, Wilfried Bony as a summer target to become his third big forward next season.

Swansea have slapped a ÂŁ20 million price tag on the Ivorian to put off potential suitors, but this seems to have not been the case as Liverpool are willing to meet the demands of the club and the player alike.

It is understood that Bony is very keen on playing the Champions League, something which Liverpool have qualified for next season. The Red’s will use this prospect and tempt the player to join the team next season.

Swansea are likely to let their talisman go if the right price is met, and will want any deal to be done before the World Cup in order to let the club look for other potential replacements.

Rodger’s is keen to provide Suarez and Sturridge with some competition as Liverpool prepare for a big year next season.

Bony has also been linked with the likes of Arsenal and Roma, but it seems Liverpool are ready to make a move for the big Ivorian.
