Unai Emery is hopeful over January reinforcements in North London.
The Gunners have fallen short of players at the back with multiple defenders out injured; most being first team stars.
Emery is looking into the market for a defender and also added the possibility of signing a winger. He said, “Maybe the transfer market can help us with a centre-back, but it is not easy because also (Konstantinos) Mavropanos is coming back after injury. Also a winger, right or left, one player can help us in this position.”
Speaking after the club’s easy 3-0 win, Emery added: “We need players with commitment. We need players who are prepared for when the team needs them and they can step up. Opportunities are coming in matches like today. We mixed experienced players in the squad with some young players like Joe, Eddie and Ainsley. It was a good combination. They can show us they are progressing with the team and, mostly importantly, they showed their passion.”
Arsenal are on the verge of losing Ramsey who is close to agreeing a summer deal for free with Juventus. They also lack natural wide players in the club with the likes of Ramsey, Mkhitaryan, Aubameyang and Lacazette filling up while Iwobi remains the only natural out and out winger.
