Liverpool vs Sunderland Predictions & Match Preview
Liverpool vs Sunderland Predictions? The Reds will be hoping to keep their great run of form going at the weekend. Liverpool face Sunderland this weekend and they’ll be hoping to claim another three points to try and take first place off Chelsea.
The Reds have been on fire so far this season and are currently sat in second place, just one point behind Chelsea. This weekend could be the week when Liverpool go back to the top, with the Blues set to take on Spurs, who could very well take all three points off them.
It leaves Jurgen Klopp’s men needing to do their job against Sunderland and try and claim all three points. Although Sunderland are in the relegation places, that will be easier said than done.
David Moyes’ side are in a good vein of form at the moment and are steadily getting the wins and points they need to climb up the table and to safety. They’ll be hoping to pull off an upset at Anfield and with the confidence they are in, they might feel they can do it.
Liverpool though will be no pushovers and with the way they have played so far this season, they are rightly the favourites in this contest.
Key Stat
Liverpool have scored at least 2 goals in 8 of their last 10 home matches in the Premier League.
Bad news for Sunderland – Liverpool certainly know where the back of the net is and they’ll be looking to smash in a few more goals this weekend.
Goal difference is key in the Premier League now and it can be the difference between the title and second place or a Champions League or Europa League spot. The Reds have been quite free-scoring so far this season, bagging more goals in the league than any other side and they’ll want to keep that up against Sunderland to boost that goal difference.
Sunderland will need to be on their best defensively but they have conceded 21 goals in 12 games so far this campaign so it will not be an easy task.
Key Men
Sadio Mane – Liverpool
Mane has been extraordinary since making the move to Liverpool, bagging goals and assists left, right and centre. He’s quickly established himself as one of the Red’s best players and he is a constant danger to any opposition team with his quick feet and creativity.
If he continues his tremendous form against Sunderland, then they’ll definitely struggle to deal with him.
Jordan Pickford – Sunderland
Pickford has been a revelation at Sunderland this campaign. The goalkeeper was brought into the first-team due to injury but after a brilliant loan spell in the Championship at Preston, he was handed a new contract and thrown into the starting eleven – and he hasn’t disappointed.
He has kept his side in games at times and last week he was arguably his side’s star player, as he helped his side keep a clean sheet against Hull. He continues to go from strength to strength and the Reds might struggle to find a way past him.
Liverpool vs Sunderland prediction
Despite Sunderland’s current good run of form and their bid to try and get out of the relegation zone – as well as Jordan Pickford’s heroics in goal – I can’t see anything but a Liverpool win here.
It might not be an easy task for the Red’s and Pickford certainly won’t make it easy for Jurgen Klopp’s side to score but they have been playing some fantastic football this season and are rightly in second place. They’ll want to capitalise while Chelsea play Tottenham and claim three points here to try and get back to first place.
With goals throughout the side from James Milner to Roberto Firmino, Emre Can, Phillipe Coutinho, Sadio Mane and others, Liverpool can produce a moment of magic and a goal from practically anywhere in their side. If Sunderland manage to stop Coutinho, then Firmino can produce the goods.
It’ll be hard for Sunderland to deal with and I can see a relatively comfortable win for Liverpool here. Coutinho continues to be one of the Red’s best players and I expect him to bag first, with another goal from Sadio Mane wrapping up the three points.
Liverpool vs Sunderland betting predictions
Liverpool welcome Sunderland as they make a bid to regain top of the table after a Bore Draw against Southampton handing over the top spot to Conte’s Chelsea. A home win again is most likely here 1/7 with bet365.
However, Sunderland are likely to put in a good effort as they’ll be hoping to add to their recent results of 2 consecutive wins at 16/1 its unlikely we’ll see an away win but a draw at 13/5 could be an option some punters look to back.
