Arsenal are in talks to sign Villarreal centre-back, Gabriel Paulista, as their hunt for defensive reinforcements continues.
The 24-year-old has been solid for the La Liga side so far this season and has been a main reason behind the club’s unbeaten streak that goes back to early November.
The Brazilian, who hasn’t won an international cap yet, may struggle to secure a move to England due to his work permit issues, but he has confirmed that talks between the two clubs are underway and a move could happen.
‘The subject is being discussed by my agent and the club,’ Paulista said.
‘If I go to Arsenal it will be excellent. But if it’s not finalised then I am relaxed. I am focused on my work here.
‘My agent is working on making sure I continue being calm.
‘Playing in the Premier League is one of my dreams. I have spoken to my agent about this.’
It’s not clear as of yet how much Villarreal want for their star defender, but according to some reports, they may be interested in taking Joel Campbell in the other direction.
