Arsenal are looking for attacking reinforcements, and Arsene Wenger has made former Manchester United winger Wilfried Zaha one of his top targets according to the Daily Mirror.
With Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil both likely to leave on free transfers next year, the Gunners are lining up quality replacements and the 25 year-old could fit the bill.
Zaha didn’t quite live up to expectations at Old Trafford, but his form for Crystal Palace has been excellent and he will almost certainly leave Selhurst Park given that the Eagles are strong favourites for relegation.
The Ivory Coast international supported Arsenal whilst growing up and would surely jump at a chance to move to the Emirates.
However, although he is proven in the Premier League and about to enter his prime, it can’t be denied that he would be a step down in Alexis Sanchez’s position.
The Gunners have been linked with a number of attacking players such as Julian Draxler, Thomas Lemar and Nabil Fekir, and fans would perhaps be left underwhelmed if Zaha were to be signed instead.
Arsene Wenger will surely be busy in January. Read our list of Arsenal’s top 5 targets for the new year transfer window here.
