Athletic Bilbao are keen on signing Arsenal left-back, Nacho Monreal, and Chelsea right-back, Cesar Azpilicueta.
The La Liga side are depserate to add experience and strength to their back-line and the two Spaniard are high on their wish-list as they plan to make Summer moves for the duo.
Monreal has improved drastically this season for The Gunners, despite spending half his appearances at centre-back due to injuries, but since returning to his natural position, he has managed to keep out Kieran Gibbs in the first-team.
As for Azpilicueta, he is a much-needed star for Jose Mourinho due to his versatility, so selling him may not be an option at the end of the current season.
Bilbao’s president, Josu Urrutia, has revealed there is interest in the Premier League duo.
“There was interest from Athletic in players, although it was focused on Illarramendi,” Urrutia told AS.
“There are not so many players: [Asier] Illarramendi, Raúl García, [Nacho] Monreal, [Cesar] Azpilicueta.
“We have to be aware, monitoring- whether they continue at their clubs [or not], it’s because they are interesting.”
