Chelsea defender David Luiz has told head coach Antonio Conte that he wants his place back in the side or he’s off, according to reports.

Luiz has been in the headlines in the past month after being dropped against Manchester United following a much publicised falling out with Conte. It’s said that Luiz challenged Conte’s tactics following the loss to Roma which Conte clearly did not respond well to and subsequently dropped him.

In his place., the young Dane Andreas Christensen has done admirably well and questions remain as to whether Luiz would get back in to the side.

Somewhat conveniently for Conte and Christensen, Luiz picked up a knee injury soon after and has not featured since. Reporters have questioned whether Luiz is really injured though, to which Conte replied stating they can ask the club doctor.

And now, Express Sport claim that the the Brazilian has told Conte that he wants his place back in the side or he’s leaving. And a source who knows Luiz said: “David like any player wants to play. So now he is waiting to see what happens.”

The 30-year-old centre-back has been linked with Manchester United and Real Madrid in recent weeks and now Bayern Munich have come into the fray.

When asked about Luiz’s place at Chelsea if Luiz Conte said: “I think now is not the right moment to speak about this.

“There are a lot of games before the transfer window and now is not the right time this is not important.”

Conte has still not given an update on when Luiz will return from injury and it’s understood his knee problem is a waiting game.
