Marseille midfielder, Giannelli Imbula, has revealed why he chose to snub Premier League giants, Chelsea, back in 2013.

The 22-year-old has become a real figure in the heart of the French side’s midfield, and has once again attracted interest from the West London club, as well as their London rivals, Arsenal, and in a recent interview, it has been revealed that the midfieler has already rejected Chelsea in the past.

According to Imbula’s agent, who is also his father, his client would already be at Chelsea if it wasn’t for their plans to send him out on loan for up to FIVE YEARS.

Willy Ndangi, told L’Equipe: “You know how much I refused from Chelsea? A million euros (ÂŁ800,000).

“About a month before Giannelli signed with Marseille, I had a meeting with a Chelsea official.

“But their people wanted a stranglehold on the player for five years.

“They wanted to put in place a sort of masked ownership.

“The youngster would have to have been willing to go left, right, to Turkey or who knows where.

“Like the system in place with Kondogbia, Mangala and all those others.

“The footballer must be free and have control over his career and salary.

“I did not want Giannelli to have a leash around his neck.”
