Liverpool enter the bidding race to sign Carlos Bacca

Liverpool are the latest team to throw their hat into the ring in a bid to sign highly rated Sevilla and Columbia forward Carlos Bacca. Bacca is thought to be valued at around £20million by the Europa League holders, and the Reds face competition for his signature from Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

The 28-year-old has netted an impressive 17 goals for Sevilla this campaign, making him their top-scorer and La Liga’s third highest scorer. The Colombian has also bagged himself five assists, also making him the club’s best provider.

Brendan Rodgers will be desperate to add goals to his side this summer, especially after the signings of Rickie Lambert and Mario Balotelli who have provided just three league goals between them this season.

Bacca, however, has played down talk of a move away from the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium, claiming he is “happy” where he is.

Bacca Talks

Speaking to Estadio Deportivo, the former Club Brugge man said “When you’ve been playing well you must be happy and proud at what you’ve done. I’m happy at Sevilla and so is my family. I have a contract for four years.”

With the rumours of Raheem Sterling’s departure from Anfield refusing to go away, Rodgers’ transfer priorities will lie with his attacking options this summer, with the Monaco striker, and Manchester United loan flop, Radamel Falcao reportedly another potential option.
