Manchester City FC squad. Here is the Manchester City Squad 2017/18.
Manchester City FC new player in and out 2017-18. Here is the Manchester City Squad 2017-18. The January transfer window 2017 is closed and we have the full Manchester City transfers list 2017 with all Manchester City new player signings 2016/17.
Manchester City have had a season that perhaps some will see as an unsuccessful one. Despite finishing in the top 4 and qualifying for the Champions League, they didn’t really sustain a title challenge and failed to win a major honour. This was it was the first time in Pep Guardiola’s career that he finished outside the top 2 in his league and failed to win a trophy.
The signings he made in the 2016/17 season had mixed results. The most notable among them was the signing of defender John Stones, who arrived for £49million from Everton. Stones was praised for his form at Goodison Park but hasn’t had a great season with City. However, he did show some signs of high promise and looks like he will develop into a great talent.
Other signings City made were more successful. Young German winger Leroy Sane had an excellent season, and January signing Gabriel Jesus had a great impact. Despite getting injured, the Brazilian really impressed in his first few months in the Premier League. He will be a real danger next season to City’s title rivals.
Their objectives for next season will be to win the league. Anything less than that will surely be seen as a failure by the Manchester City owners. They will also be looking to have a strong Champions League campaign also. With the money they have spent, it should be a realistic target for Pep Guardola’s team.
How does the Man City first team for 2017/18 season looks like? The Manchester City line up 2017/18 season will consist of these players.
Manchester City have recently signed new goalkeeper Ederson after releasing veteran Willy Caballero at the end of the 2016/17 season. Claudio Bravo was signed at the end of last season, but hasn’t impressed at all this season. It is assumed that the new talent, Ederson, will take his place as City’s number 1 this season.
City have struggled at the back this season over the course of the entire campaign. John Stones hasn’t yet justified his price tag and again Vincent Kompany had his fair share of injury problems. It is their back 4 that certainly needed more attention after last season. City spent over £100million on defenders during the summer, bringing in the likes of Kyle Walker from Tottenham, Benjamin Mendy from Monaco and Danilo from Real Madrid. They were also linked with a move for Southampton’s Virgil Van Dijk, but the transfer never materialised and the Dutchman ended up staying put.
City have what is regarded as one of the best midfields in the league. They have some truly world-class players in their ranks when it comes to the midfield. Kevin De Bruyne is their record signing, a man who they paid £55million for. However, he has completely justified that pricey fee. Their squad depth in midfield is fantastic as they have lots of fantastic players. If De Bruyne can’t play, they have players like David Silva and Yaya Toure who can take his place. They signed Ilkay Gundogan last summer and he had a really good start to his Man City career before suffering a serious injury just before Christmas.
These are the strikers in the Manchester City squad. The signing of Gabriel Jesus has been a stroke of genius by Pep Guardiola so far and they already have a truly world-class striker in Sergio Aguero. However, with the likes of Kelechi Iheanacho, Wilfried Bony and Nolito having left during the summer transfer window, they may be a little short on options given that they will be competing in four competitions this season.
