Olivier Giroud admits to feeling confident

Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has revealed that he is feeling a lot more confident on the pitch and that is the main reason behind his impressive goal scoring record.

The Frenchman was signed by Arsene Wenger for a fee estimated around ÂŁ12million last summer from Montpellier, and despite scoring 17-goals in all competitions last season, many people were suggesting that he was not good enough for the Premier League.

However, after scoring numerous goals during Arsenal’s pre-season, Giroud continued his form by scoring three goals in three games during the side’s two Premier League games and also their Champions League qualifier.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Giroud has revealed why he is scoring so frequently now.

“I always want to improve myself and I feel really good on the pitch,” Giroud told Arsenal Player. “I always want to make the team win so we feel good and we really want to keep going.

“Maybe I feel more relieved in the game [now] and more confident. I’ve scored 11 goals in 10 games I think so I feel good and have no doubts.

“I’m like that in life. I just enjoy my first game, my good form, so I wanted to carry on and keep it up. I feel good in the team.

“It could be a very big game, the north London derby. I look forward for that. Step-by-step, we need to finish the job against Fenerbahce and after we could play with the feeling of [having done] a good job.

“We deserve it and we want to be confident and strong for the beginning of the season. Last year we had a bad run at the start of the season so it’s very important to keep a small distance [to the team in] first.”
