Chelsea boss Antonio Conte must keep hold of Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, according to Paul Merson.
Courtois has been exceptional for Chelsea this season, and has played a key part in helping the Blues to the top of the Premier League – with 13 clean sheets to his name so far this season.
The first choice Chelsea keeper has been linked to moves away all over the world, but most notably Real Madrid, in a transfer rumor that refuses to go away.
Multiple sources have reported that Courtious is unhappy in London, and wishes to move as soon as possible, with some reports even suggesting that the Belgium keepers agent is in contact with Madrid representatives every day in order to force through a move.
Sky pundit Paul Merson believes that Chelsea must keep hold of the talented 24-year-old keeper, claiming that the shot stopper has saved them points multiple times this season.
There is no doubting that Courtois is very talented, and a valuable asset to Chelsea, but will the club be able to resist if a big bid comes in from the likes of Real Madrid?
“He is different class, he saves point after point for Chelsea.
“If you look at the teams that aren’t at the top of their division there are question marks over all of their goalkeepers, a lot of whom don’t save them points.”
Chelsea will no doubt agree, and will certainly put in their best efforts to convince Courtious to stay, but only time will tell if the Belgian will remain at Stamford Bridge.
