Sampaoli back in contention!

According to reports, Jorge Sampaoli is now firmly back in the frame to succeed Guus Hiddink as Chelsea manager after a dramatic Roman Abramovich U-turn.

Former Chile boss Sampaoli was linked with a move to the Blues about a month ago but talk quietened amid claims Abramovich preferred a European boss.

Antonio Conte and Max Allegri have since been strongly linked with the position, but the Daily Telegraph says Sampaoli is now back in the mix.

That’s because he’s talked his way back into contention, and Abramovich has apparently performed a U-turn on the 55-year-old.

Sampaoli is known for his love of a 3-5-2 formation and fluid football, which could prove attractive to both the Russian and Chelsea fans.
