Aaron Ramsdale told to resist a January transfer to Chelsea.
Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has played second fiddle to David Raya throughout this season and there is an increasing uncertainty over the player’s future.
The 25-year-old goalkeeper lost his spot to summer signing David Raya who arrived on loan from Brentford in August.
The England international has played just three games in the last three months.
England manager Gareth Southgate warned there would be no guarantees for Ramsdale going forward unless he improves his situation at Arsenal.
Both Chelsea and Newcastle United have been credited with an interest in the Arsenal outcast this January.
Mikel Arteta does not want Ramsdale to leave in January and would block any move for the England international unless an enticing offer is on the table.
Club legend David Seaman has urged the struggling goalkeeper to fight for his place under Mikel Arteta.
Seaman said: “No, I don’t want him to leave the club at all.” “Raya has come in, and now we’re seeing you know why he’s in there because, with his feet, he’s brilliant.
“It’s still 50-50 for me and I’m happy that we’ve got two really good quality goalkeepers at the club. But the main factor that you’ve got to do is make sure that whoever’s not in is happy. Ramsdale’s also got England to look after as well.
“I want Aaron with us. I am very happy to have two very, very good goalkeepers and Aaron is staying with us… He’s willing to play. Like any player, he wants to play for Arsenal.”
