Fabio Carvalho ended his loan spell with RB Leipzig.
The Portuguese midfielder joined Bundesliga giants RB Leipzig on a season-long deal this summer for the 2023-24 campaign.
The 21-year-old made 15 appearances for Marco Rose’s side since arriving in Germany but struggled to bag a score or an assist.
Carvalho joined Liverpool in the summer of 2022 but struggled to make an impact in his debut season for the Reds.
He has now returned after a disappointing loan spell with the club discussing an early termination with RB Leipzig.
It will be interesting to see if the talented midfielder could revive his career in the second half of the 2023/24 campaign.
RB Leipzig director Rouven Schroder reserved some kind words for the young midfielder.
“Fabio was able to quickly integrate himself here, but both parties had expected more from his time here – especially Fabio in terms of his playing time,” Schroder said, via Leipzig’s website.
“Due to the quality and competition within our squad at his position, we are unable to guarantee this for him. We held several discussions over the last days and in the end, decided to end his loan early.
“We would like to thank Fabio for his efforts at RBL and wish him all the best for the future.”
