Ajax’s rage against Swedish referee

Milan who won their first group stage match against Celtic 2-0 looked to grap another three pointer away at Ajax. But Ajax had another thing in mind.

Ajax dominated the possession big-time, and Balotelli & Co barely got the chance to create anything. In the 90th minute the hard work on Ajax’s behalf finally payed off when Stefano Denswil headed in a corner. Most Milan fans had probably given up hope for a victory by then, but all of a sudden they were about to leave Holland with zero points. But here’s where it get’s interesting – in the 94th minute Swedish referee Jonas Eriksson calls for a penalty on Milan’s behalf. ANd who to take it other than Mario Balotelli himself, who fixed the penalty. Balo has only missed one single penalty in his professional career, against Pepe Renia the Napoli goalkeeper, last week.

“He’s tugging him  a bit, but then Balotelli pulls him towards himself with both his hands. A ridiculoous decision by the referee. Very bad,” says Ajax coach Frank De Boer to Telegraaf.

The result was tough on Ajax who really could have used the three points in order to not create a even bigger gap in between them, BArcelona and of course, Milan.

Other results in group H last night:

Champions League, group H

Celtic-Barcelona 0-1(0-0)

0-1 Francesc Fabregas (76).

Attendance: 55 000.
