Liverpool left-back felt an inner-rage towards former-manager

Liverpool defender Alberto Moreno has opened up about working under Brendan Rodgers and he’s admitted that he felt an inner-rage towards the Northern Irishman.

The Spaniard arrived at Anfield after the club paid ÂŁ12million to sign him from La Liga side Sevilla. However, it was later revealed that Rodgers didn’t want to sign Moreno and instead wanted Ryan Bertrand from Chelsea.

However, the board went against Rodgers and signed the Sevilla star, and he introduced himself by scoring a brilliant solo-goal against Tottenham Hotspur.

Moreno’s career then rapidly declined in Merseyside and he’s put the blame on former-boss, Rodgers, and has admitted he didn’t like working with him.

Moreno Opens Up

“I perhaps felt that he (Rodgers) didn’t have quite so much confidence in me, certainly at the start of the season,” said Moreno.

“He told me I was training hard but then I didn’t feature for those first five or six games.

“He said to me that it was still early in the season and that my opportunity would come, but after the first game against Stoke, when we kept a clean sheet, he said he wasn’t going to change anything defensively at that point.

“I was angry. It never entered my head that I was going to leave. I want to stay forever. But I had this inner anger, a rage almost. I felt I was playing well, training well. He told me that I was training well. But I couldn’t see why I wasn’t getting a chance at the beginning.”
