Olympique Lyonnais striker Alexandre Lacazette has ruled out a potential move to the Premier League this year, after committing his future to the Ligue 1 club.

The 23-year-old is a product of the Lyon academy and has already amassed 108 first team appearances for the side, scoring 26 goals.

And that form had alerted Premier League sides Newcastle, Arsenal and Liverpool who were being linked with bidding for the forward for the majority of last summer.

However Lacazette has spoken as to why he didn’t encourage advances from the English sides, by saying:

“I was under contract, so there was never anything there.”

“There was lots of speculation with regards to a possible transfer, but I wanted to progress in the club where I was made.”

“To have responsibility interested me. I had no reasons to leave.”

The forward has backed up his commited words by penning a new 4 year contract at the Stade de Gerland, tieing him to the club until at least the summer of 2018.
