Alvaro Morata has revealed he turned down the likes of Barcelona and Bayern Munich to rejoin Atletico Madrid as it was quite easy for him to pick his next destination.
The Chelsea outcast is hoping to revitalise his career at the Wanda Metropolitano where it all started. The 26 year old had spent three years at the Spanish club as a youth player and has finally returned to his old hunting ground.
Once regarded as one of the best strikers Morata has failed to justify his price tag since his arrival to the Stamford Bridge. Chelsea paid a whopping £60 m to Real Madrid but they never got the required service for what they were hoping for.
The condition was so bad that Maurizio Sarri had to bring in Gonzalo Higuain from AC Milan in a bid to solve the crisis.
Morata said, “It was very easy, everything stopped when my agent told me this possibility.
“If I am here, it is because I want to be here, which is the most important. I feel part of this club again.
“I do not feel like a new player, my teammates have written to me over these weeks when nothing was closed. [But] there was no need to convince me. Life takes many turns but I am here now and looking forward to training with the teammates, under [Diego] Simeone’s orders.”
