Manchester City striker Alvaro Negredo has revealed that he is ready to live up to his nick-name of ‘The Beast’ and admits that he is prepared to throw his body around in order to win the Premier League with his new side.

The Spanish striker completed his move from Sevilla to City this summer and has been impressive in several games already this season.

Nicknamed ‘The Beast’ when he was back in Spain, Negredo believes his tough and physical approach will make him a success in England and he proved that during the club’s 4-1 thrashing of rivals Manchester United.

The striker was all over both United centre-back’s and he was instrumental in creating space for his team-mates and he thinks his style of play will help City win the title once again.

‘It’s [The Beast] a nickname I like,’ Negredo said, ‘It was given to me while I was playing in Spain so I hope they can call me that over here as well. Hopefully the way I played against United will convince them to do it. I will be happy if they do.

‘I always enjoy a physical battle. (Nemanja) Vidic is a very strong player, very aggressive but I enjoyed that sort of contact with an opponent. As long as opponents play fair it’s not a problem to me because I’m always ready for the challenge.’

‘I was very happy in Seville but I’m pleased with the move I made. I feel good over here and I feel I have adapted well to the English game, I really like it.’
