Ancelotti to boss Arsenal? Wenger to be replaced?

In a stunning report from the Daily Express, it is claimed that long-term Arsenal boss, Arsene Wenger, could be on his way out of Arsenal, with Monaco offering him a lucrative three-year deal worth a staggering ÂŁ28million!

According to the report, the heirarchy at the North London club are lining up Real Madrid coach, Carlo Ancelotti, as their ideal replacement if Wenger does cross the channel.

Ancelotti has made no secret of his desire to one day manage again in the Premier League, but these rumours could stun the Gunner’s faithful.

‘I loved England; I was very happy at Chelsea. I liked the atmosphere, the supporters. I have the best memories.

‘I’d like to return. It depends how long this adventure lasts. If it lasts a long time I will retire after it. But if it doesn’t then I will come to England. For sure.

‘The day I leave Madrid there are two solutions. Either I quit football or I come back to England.’

Arsenal have made a poor start to the 2014/15 campaign by their own standards, with a leaky defensive unit being a well-documented problem. Wenger has recently pledged to deal with the problems in the January transfer window.

It is reported that the Arsenal board will be able to provide Mr Ancelotti with ‘significant funds’ to bolster the squad if he were to arrive in London.

With some fans seemingly unhappy at the Frenchman’s transfer dealing’s in the summer, this report will do nothing to add confidence. A string of positive results may well be needed to dampen down any disquiet in the ranks. It’s quite possible Arsenal will need to pull out all the stops this season to discourage Wenger booking those Eurotunnel tickets.

The South of France?………….and ÂŁ28million to boot? I’ll give you a few minutes to think about it.
