Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes has asked to leave the club this summer, reports Mundo Deportivo.
The Portuguese international has endured a nightmare two year spell at the Camp Nou on an individual level, despite the Catalan giants’ cruising towards a La Liga title and reaching the latter stages of the Champions League yet again.
He is frustrated with the lack of game time and has been reduced to the bench. He could not hold on his place as Barcelona already are stuffed with midfielders. The Spanish giants were ready to sell him last summer but didn’t as they couldn’t reach an agreement with Philippe Coutinho.
But Coutinho joined the club in the Winter transfer window and with Arthur set to join in the summer, it looks like the 24 year old time in Barcelona is over.
He was recently booed by his own fans in 1-0 win over Atletico Madrid last month and has admitted that he is struggling to deal with the criticisms. He is not feeling good and feels ashamed to leave his own house at the moment. No wonder he has asked the club to leave this summer.
Top European clubs like AC Milan, Juventus and Tottenham are interested in signing the former Valencia star.
Gomes joined Barcelona from Valencia in a deal that could reach £48 million on 21 July 2016.
