Manchester United spending massive money on striker
AS Monaco have confirmed to French media that Manchester United will be paying £59million for Anthony Martial.
Initial reports had the deal worth around £36m, but since then, officials from the Ligue 1 side have confirmed that United have agreed to pay nearly £60m for the 19-year-old.
Louis van Gaal has been in the market for a new striker all summer, since Radamel Falcao‘s loan expired and Robin van Persie joined Fenerbahce.
However, Martial was not a name mentioned on a regular basis.
Striker Hunt
Harry Kane, Alexandre Lacazette and Edinson Cavani were all linked with a move to Old Trafford, but reports emerged this morning that it was to be the teenager who Van Gaal would sign.
After Martial was announced, United then revealed Javier Hernandez was to join Bayer Leverkusen in a deal worth just under £10m.
Since the Martial news broke, Monaco kept quite about the deal, however, officials from the club have now confirmed to Canal+ that the deal will be worth £59m, making the striker the most expensive teenager ever.
