Antonio Conte has revealed that Blues captain John Terry will lift the Premier League trophy on Sunday
There was some question over who is deserving of lifting the trophy at Stamford Bridge following a season in which the Captaincy has been shared around.
Some have pleaded the case that because N’Golo Kante has been recognised as the team’s standout player having won both the PFA and FWA Players of the Season awards this season, he should be the one to lift the Trophy, however, despite barely featuring this season, the Terry will have the honour of lifting their well earned prize.
Terry who will leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season, I believe is the right person to do the honours.
And Chelsea Boss Antonio Conte agrees:
‘I’m looking forward to seeing him lift the cup and I think the players want to see this too. It is the right finale for John,’ Conte explained last night.
Conte also spoke about how much losing John Terry is a big loss for the club.
‘He took his decision to play regularly every game [elsewhere] and for this reason he preferred to leave Chelsea. I don’t know where.
‘For us it’s a big loss because he helped me a lot off the pitch. He’s always sending the right message to the other players. It’s a pity for me but I must respect his decision.
‘At the minute his heart, body and head tell him he wants to continue to play so it’s right to allow him to. John wants to continue his career and I wish for him and his family all the best. Chelsea will always be his home. He’s a great man and a legend for Chelsea.’
