Chelsea boss set for more praise
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is set to become the first man EVER to win 3 Premier League manager of the month awards in a row.
The Blues boss has been nominated for the award again for an impressive December, in which his team dropped no points, keeping 4 clean sheets.
The other nominees for the award include Manchester United’s Jose Mourinho, Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp and Tottenham’s Maurcio Pochettino.
Conte joined a particular list of manager’s who have managed to retain the award in November.
Claudio Ranieri was the most recent boss to do so, in March and April of last season, while Manuel Pellegrini (2013-2014) and Carlo Ancelotti (2011) have also done so in more recent years.
Other managers to win back-to-back awards are Rafa Benitez (2005), Paul Jewell (2005), David O’Leary (2001), Sir Alex Ferguson (1996 and 2000), Arsene Wenger (1998), Roy Evans (1995-1996), Kevin Keegan (1995), Joe Kinnear (1994).
Chelsea’s impressive form was halted slighty by Spurs on Wednesday night with a 2-0 defeat at White Hart Lane, but they still remain 5 points ahead of Liverpool at the top of the Premier League with just over half of the season played. Despite a shaky start to the season, Conte has done extremely well to steady the ship and guide Chelsea back to success after struggling last season.
