Manchester United star undergoes surgery on foot injury
Manchester United winger Antonio Valencia has been ruled out for up to five months after undergoing surgery.
The Ecuadorian international picked up an injury during the Manchester derby, and he had surgery on the problem yesterday, which will now see him miss five months of action due to rehabilitation.
Valencia damaged a bone just above his foot, and did further damage to it by proceeding to play on rather than be substituted.
Five Months Out
As of yet, there has been no official word from Manchester United‘s medical team, but early reports are suggesting Valencia could be out until around April.
After the surgery, Valencia tweeted a picture of himself in the hospital bed, along with the following message: “Thank God came out well from the operation. Now think about my recovery.”
The injury leaves Louis van Gaal rather short on the right-hand side, with Matteo Darmian the only recognised right-back.
