Manager Arsene Wenger is in the market for a new shot stopper to compete with first choice Wojciech Szczesny next season, following the decision of Łukasz Fabiański to join Premier League rivals Swansea in the pursuit of regular game time.
A number of names have been linked with a move to the Emirates as a result, including Cardiff City’s David Marshall, but it is the Colombian that now looks most likely to join the Gunners this summer.
Ospina enjoyed a successful World Cup campaign with his national side and the impressive South American outfit were unfortunate to be eliminated by hosts Brazil at the quarter finals stage of the tournament.
The 25-year-old performed admirably throughout the competition, which has only served to intensify the speculation surrounding his club future.
Having turned down the offer of a contract from the French side earlier in the summer, he has been told that he can leave the Allianz Riviera if his valuation is met after entering the final 12 months of his current deal.
With Arsenal set to offer £3 million for his services the goalkeeper appears to be on his way to north London as Wenger puts the finishing touches to his squad ahead of the start of the new season.
