The Gunners keen on signing new goalkeeper

Arsenal are confident that they can secure a deal for Chelsea’s long-serving goalkeeper, Petr Cech, according to reports.

Cech has been tipped to depart Stamford Bridge this summer, having lost his number one jersey to Thibaut Courtois, with Jose Mourinho reportedly ready to let the keeper leave for £10 million.

Leading the way for the 32-year-old’s signature are Chelsea’s London rivals, Arsenal, who are keen to take Cech from west to the north of the capital.

Arsenal are not the only side keen on the services of Cech, with Premier league rivals, Liverpool, Manchester United and Italian Serie A side Roma, also in the running.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger played down talk of a move for the veteran shot-stopper, who has been at Chelsea for eleven years.

The Frenchman stated: “We don’t necessarily need a new goalkeeper.

“The goalkeepers I have I believe in – Wojciech Szczesny has been very good and David Ospina has done very well.

“You only have to look at his stats.”

Gunners remain interested

Despite Arsene Wenger dismissing talk of the signing of Cech, the Daily Mail claim that the Emirates Stadium outfit remain interested in the Czech Republic international.

The same paper claim that the Arsenal manager is yet to make a decision on who to make his number one next season, with David Ospina currently occupying the sticks.
