Arsenal’s Sven Mislintat has been impressed by Soyuncu

Arsenal’s defense has come into questions again this season and has become a laughing stock. They are no longer the defensive unit once they were and one of the reasons they are currently 6th in the league.

With Per Mertesacker set to retire at the end of the season and become club’s academy manager, Wenger needs to add reinforcements in the summer to challenge for the title next season.

According to The Sun, Arsenal are considering a move for SC Freiburg’s defender Caglar Soyuncu. He is seen as the long-term solution to the Gunners’ defensive woes.

Arsenal’s head of recruitment Sven Mislintat has been impressed by the centre-back. He has been scouted by Arsenal’s scouts earlier in the season and they were also in attendance for his country Turkey’s 1-0 win over Republic of Ireland last week.

The 21 year old has also caught the eye of scouts from Chelsea, Manchester City, Liverpool and Roma.

Soyuncu is valued at £30 million and that could be enough to lure him away from Germany. He has been in great form this season and is often compared to the likes of Bayern’s defender Mats Hummels.

He was just signed for £2.4 million in 2016 from Altinordu S.K.
