City ready to double Sterling’s money

Raheem Sterling is having the best season of his career this term and has been impressive for both his club Manchester City and country England. The winger has improved immensely under club coach Guardiola and has scored 20 goals this season, which is his best ever return. He has established himself as one of the hottest properties in England.

Manchester City wants to reward him for his performances and are ready to open contract talks with him. According to Daily Mirror, City are ready to double Sterling’s money and tie him down to the club for a long term. They already have tied down Kevin De Bruyne to new deal.

City know they could face a major battle to keep the 23 year old this summer. His impressive form has put him on radar of Europe’s top clubs including Spanish giants Real Madrid. Madrid are looking to strengthen their squad this summer by adding some stellar signings. With Salah already on their list, they could also go for Sterling. This could be a huge worry for City.

Sterling has impressed for England in recent international friendlies and it is thought his value will soar high after the World Club. His England coach Gareth Southgate claimed the 23-year-old will go to Russia 2018 as one of the finest talents in the whole tournament.

The England boss said: “We have seen his numbers this year with City, he is playing with confidence, speaking with confidence and I think we have a lot of these lads: Raheem, Dele (Alli), Jesse (Lingard), they are expressive players and they need to feel freedom on the pitch.”
