Arsenal could re-sign Cole

Arsenal are considering re-signing former full back Ashley Cole in the summer once his contract at Chelsea expires.

Cole, now aged 33 began his career in North London, spending nine years at the club before signing for Chelsea in acramonious, controversial circumstances in the summer of 2006.

The defender has since won a number of trophies at Chelsea, during his current eight year spell in West London.

But it now appears that he may be leaving West London, after falling down the pecking order at the club, and his long term future up in the air.

Chelsea have a strict policy on player contracts over the age of 30, and with Cole’s expiring, it seems he will be moving onto pastures new this coming summer.

He had been a regular in a star studded side, but has lost his place over the last few months following the return of Mourinho.

Cole guided Arsenal to their last major trophy, as the Gunners won the 2005 FA Cup, beating Manchester United in Cardiff.

Wenger is still a huge fan of the England full back, and is keen to take him back to North London.

Arsenal are currently top of the Premier League, after Sunday’s home win against Crystal Palace.

Cole would bring a host of an experience to an already strong position, with Keiran Gibbs and Nacho Monreal both suitable nominations.

However, Cole has been attracting interest from the United States, so Wenger may need to act fast.
